Lathom House: Reviewing the Evidence for the Lost Northern Court

This talk explores the documentary and physical evidence for Lathom House as it stood between its late fifteenth-century rebuilding for Thomas Stanley and Margaret Beaufort, and its destruction during the civil war a hundred and fifty years later. A new assessment of its excavated masonry will accompany a re-reading of documents and the recent discovery of a royal bed to build a more accurate picture of the form and fate of this great house.
